About Mark Richmond aka Mondo

Mark Richmond is a dynamic visual artist whose work bridges the realms of fine art, murals, and contemporary pop culture. A graduate of San Diego State University, where he studied art and played Division I baseball, Richmond brings a disciplined yet expressive energy to everything he creates. His art is a vibrant fusion of influences — from the raw energy of graffiti and the delicate line work of Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock prints to the bold colors and themes of pop art. He works primarily with acrylic paint, spray paint, and ink, often layering these mediums on wood panels and large-scale surfaces.

Richmond’s creative reach spans galleries, public spaces, and commercial venues. His murals can be seen across Southern California, including prominent installations at the San Diego International Airport and Harney Sushi, one of San Diego’s top sushi restaurants. These projects showcase his ability to transform everyday environments into immersive visual experiences that are both captivating and culturally resonant. Each mural tells a story, often blending tradition with modern expression in a style that’s uniquely his own.

In addition to his artistic work, Mark Richmond has served as a spokesperson for San Diego’s ArtWalk, one of the region’s most celebrated art festivals. His involvement underscores his passion for fostering creativity in the community and making art accessible to a broader audience.

Now, Mark Richmond and his family reside in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he is continuing his artistic endeavors. With a fresh coastal backdrop and a vibrant local arts scene, Richmond is expanding his creative reach while staying true to the bold, energetic style that defines his work.
